The credit union office is open. At this time our hours are 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. We are still operating drive thru only due to COVID 19.
Update 9/15/20 – 11:00 am
We now have power and internet at the credit union office in Lake Charles. I will be shutting down the credit union in Austin at Noon today, September 15. I will travel with all equipment back to Lake Charles on September 16th. We are planning on reopening, Thursday, September 17th at 10:00 am. Online banking will not show any balance between noon September 15 until I’m able to get the equipment set back up in Lake Charles. I will not be returning any phone calls after noon today until we reopen on Thursday.
Update 8/28/20 – 9:00 a.m.
Our credit union building weathered the storm well. We have some minor damage but overall it is ok. I am still working in Austin, TX. I will probably continue to work here until we receive electricity at the office. Please call our temporary phone 337-930-2126, Monday – Friday 9:00 – 4:00 or you can leave a message on the office phone line and I will return your call.
Reminder – the credit union office in Lake Charles is not receiving mail at this time. If you mail a payment yourself or thru your bill pay, it will be held at the post office until we return.
We are offering Skip A Pay for the month of September. Please call me at 337-930-2126 or email me at email@example.com for the skip-a-pay request information.
All late fees on loans will be waved for the month of September. If you see a late fee charged after 9/2/20 until 9/30/20 please let me know.

Update 8/27/20 – 9:00 a.m.
Online banking is running as normal. You can contact me by emailing – firstname.lastname@example.org or call the credit union phone 337-436-2257 and leaving a message or call/text our temporary phone 337-930-2126. I will check the voice mail for the office several times a day. I will return your calls or text as soon as possible. I have not heard the condition of our credit union office at this time. Update 8/26/20 – 4:20 p.m.
I have made it to Austin Tx with the Credit Union equipment. Working desperately to get the system up and running as soon as possible. I have several IT employees at the credit union that his housing our credit union helping and also working with our software provider. Hope to have online banking up and running this evening. Please be patient.
The credit union will be closing at 1:30 p.m. today to prepare for Hurricane Laura. Online banking will be going down around 3:00 p.m. This is due to the office manager removing all the servers and hardware to evacuate. She has already spoken to a credit union in Austin Tx that will be help set up our credit union in a temporary location. Online banking possibly will not be up and running again until Thursday, August 27, depending on connections. Once the servers are up and running, all payroll files will post as normal. You may contact the credit union thru email after 3:00 p.m. Email address is email@example.com. She will be checking email as soon as the equipment is up and running and will responded as soon as possible. If a phone number becomes available for contact, we will notify thru our website, voice mail (as long as it is working) and our facebook page. All debit and credit cards will continue to work without any disruption as long as you have money in your account.
We are still operating drive-thru only. We hope to open the lobby in early June, when construction is completed on the front counter. The drive-thru is full service, so we are still processing loans, opening accounts, and processing your daily transactions. Cash advances can be processed as well, as long as a pin number is not required. Feel free to call ahead and have your transaction ready or call with any questions you may have!
Starting 3/18/20 we will be operating by drive thru window only for our normal business hours. We ask that as a courtesy to the members in line you please limit your transactions. We may ask that you drive around and get back in line if you require services that take longer to complete. Feel free to call ahead and have your transaction ready upon your arrival. At SPELC FCU, the health and wellness of our members remain at the top of our priorities. At this time, we are monitoring and following all guidelines from the Center of Disease Control (CDC) and our local government leadership, as well.
At this time, our office remains open and ready to serve you. However, we do encourage you to use the drive thru window if possible. We also encourage you to use your Online services that are available 24/7.
